YMCA Camp Carter is a 360 acre outdoor adventure camp and
conference center that facilitates programs for various groups of youth
throughout the summer. 
Our camp nurse
will help support the work we do at the Y, by helping create a positive,
nurturing environment for all campers and staff.
  They will also help each camper reach their
fullest potential and deepen their connections as part of their overall camp
  All while overseeing the
health and wellness of all camp participants.


Camp Carter is the ultimate camp experience, providing high
quality programs including canoeing, archery, challenge course, horseback
riding, rifles and so much more!

  • Minimum: EMT, CNA or equivalent – must be able to administer
    and document camper medication.

  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.

  • Experience with and desire to work with children ages 7 – 16.

  • Possess leadership abilities.

  • Person must possess values consistent with the mission of the

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.


    Essential Functions

  • Review health records of campers for completion and call
    parents for corrections.

  • Track and record all special needs, medications, dietary
    concerns or treatments for each camper.

  • Maintain the medical log and note all visits and treatments
    including; date, time and name of person, general description of injury or
    illness and treatment, administration of medications and initials of person
    evaluating and treatment.

  • Maintain a separate medication log documenting all the
    medications given in accordance with state and federal laws.

  • Note trends of recurrent complaints and notify director.

  • Diligently promote and ensure healthy standards, practices
    and operations within the camp community.

  • Advise the director of any health related issues and provide

  • Administer appropriate medical care and treatment to campers
    and staff in compliance with standing orders and within scope of training.

  • Maintain inventory of appropriate medical supplies and

  • Communicate with and educate staff regarding the appropriate
    care of campers and special needs of campers.

  • Assist with camper check-in by interviewing parents and
    campers with medications or health issues.

  • Maintain communication with parents as related to health

  • Consult with the Executive Director or the Director on duty
    regarding issues of home sickness, questions regarding calls home to parents or
    other issues of concern.

  • Other duties as
