Program Aide - NE_Corps Program-301
Work in an after-school and summer program that aligns in-school and out-of-school learning, provides academic support and enrichment opportunities through high yield learning activities. Program Aides deliver programming in Academic Success, Good Character & Citizenship and Healthy Lifestyles. Program Aides are expected to leverage volunteers and other community resources, and engage parents to enhance programming. Supervises sporting events and transports passengers in a Salvation Army vehicle. Assist in maintaining facilities, equipment and grounds.

Child Care Responsibilities (40%)
Provides constant care for the needs of the children in an efficient, clean, loving, safe, secure and healthy manner.
Prepares and serves children snacks and meals; ensures that children receive nutritional and tasteful food; provides positive, relaxed atmosphere during children’s mealtime encouraging conversation.
Exhibits control of the children and, when needed, displays proper discipline techniques.
Prepares and maintains up-to-date records and required reports (attendance, development progress, discipline reports, etc.); assists as needed with data entry in member tracking system.
Ensures the accountability, security and safety of children participating in after school activities and field trips; reports all accidents to the supervisor in an accurate and timely manner.
Administers basic first aid as necessary; reports any health issues with supervisor in accordance to policies and procedures.
Organizing, Planning, and Teaching Lessons (30%)
Implements lesson plans which are age-group program specific; utilizes age-group appropriate discovery areas, enriched with program-specific activities, including teacher-made materials and hands-on activities.
Determines appropriate supplies and materials for lesson plans and recreational activities; ensures the children's safety in utilizing the same.
Provides opportunities for physical and mental stimulation through both inside and outside learning activities.
Maintains the after-school materials in an orderly fashion; maintains accountability for any supplies necessary for after school programs.
Supervises and coaches games; leads and motivates plyers to exhibit good sportsmanship.
Driving Responsibilities (20%)
Transports or assists with transporting children whenever needed; ensures the safety and protection of children at all times.
Assists in leading children on field trips.
Cleaning Responsibilities (10%)
Cleans the kitchen, classrooms, table, vehicles, floors, etc. in accordance with established sanitary standards.
Assists in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of facilities and grounds.
Attends and participates in regularly scheduled in-service training sessions.
Reports any injuries to supervisor immediately and instructs injured party to complete an incident report.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of the principles and practices of Child Behavior and Development.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of First Aid and C.P.R and ability to ensure the safety of children.
Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army.
Ability to teach children Christian values as well as general childhood education curriculum.
Ability to plan, develop and implement effective childhood programs and activities.
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write and communicate the English language effectively.
Ability to observe children and ensure their safety.
Ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle safely observing all laws, regulations, and policies.
Ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or G.E.D. required,
Two years experience teaching child development programs,
Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Valid State Drivers License
CPR and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain within established timeframe)
Physical Requirements/Work Conditions:
Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing and walking on a frequent change basis.
Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) frequently.
Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor recreational environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt and the like.
