The Network Engineer IV is will design, configure and support the enterprise network for on-premises and cloud workloads. Develops design recommendations for upgrades and drive future network architectures. Delivers advanced technical support for all network related issues.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Designs, implements and supports the network architecture for cloud and on-premises environments with a focus on standard design topology, growth, performance and scalability

• Manages and maintains Cisco and Arista switches, Palo Alto Firewalls and Meraki wireless environments, as well as the LogRhythm SIEM, Panorama, and VPN technologies

• Monitors and reviews logs, reports, and dashboards to assess the network health and performance

• Analyzes and monitors network traffic to provide early intrusion detection and prevention

• Identifies, evaluates and remediates potential threats and vulnerabilities that could impact the organization’s application or infrastructure environment

• Researches, implements, and maintains the network security infrastructure including intrusion prevention systems, firewalls, DNS, internet protection, and endpoint security

• Works closely with the Security team members in identifying, troubleshooting and remediating security incidents that involve the network

• Develops and maintains network policies & standards with minimum security baselines

• Analyzes, designs, and implements network switch and firewall upgrades and expansions accurately without adversely affecting systems availability

• Identifies and evaluates opportunities for operational performance enhancements, and adherence to industry standard best practice for security in a network environment

• Communicates network trends, issues and outages to management and peers

• Manages configuration and change control of network infrastructure

• Investigates and documents issues/incidents involving the network infrastructure

• Assists in the transition and migration of on-premises workloads to public cloud environments

• Develops scripted solutions to automate and drive efficiency for administration and management

• Documents the design, operation, and troubleshooting of the network infrastructure and procedures

• Independently creates organized and detailed technical plans for technical implementations

• Provides innovative approaches and solutions to recurring tasks or problems

• Develops standards and best practices to be used within the network infrastructure

• Remains current on industry best practices and trends • Assists with yearly budgeting by developing vendor relationships and securing competitive quotes

 

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

• Follows internal procedures which include change management, incident management, and problem escalation

• Provides 24/7 on-call support as part of a scheduled rotation with other team members

• Perform other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field required, relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

• Minimum of eight (8) years of enterprise network and firewall administration experience, switch and firewall configuration management and production support

• Two (2) years of network administration/support in a public cloud

 

PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:

• CCNA, or Network +, or Security +, certification preferred.

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

• Expert working knowledge of Cisco and Arista Switches and Meraki wireless, as well as Palo Alto Firewalls, IPS, Proxy and VPN

• Intermediate experience with network micro-segmentation, Panorama, Velo Cloud, Tenable, SolarWinds, and LogRhythm, Network and Security architecture, design, concepts, and analysis • Experience designing enterprise Networks incorporated the appropriate balance of performance, cost, availability, redundancy, fault tolerance, high availability, security and other factors

• Intermediate knowledge of Networking protocols for route and switch networks and experience with Cisco and Arista switches, Palo Alto Firewalls and Meraki wireless environments
