The Application Developer II for Java Technologies partners with the business owners and the Project Management Office (PMO), participating in all phases of the Information Technology project life cycle. Applies technical expertise in designated technical disciplines and on specific platform. Understands, then transforms the business and technical requirements into robust, scalable, and reliable technical solutions, ensuring they meet the Company’s needs. Works independently with minimal oversight.



• Designs, develops, and maintains highly specialized financial applications (web and windows)

• Translates business requirements and objectives into technical applications and solutions

• Completes technical tasks (complex and otherwise), troubleshoots issues, researches new methods and systems, under minimal supervision

• Plays a key role in ensuring the success of the core systems

• Designs, develops, tests and supports application releases

• Supports and mentors less experienced team members by providing advice, coaching and educational opportunities

• Conducts design and code reviews to ensure that the code developed meets coding best practice guidelines, as well as unit testing, security, scalability and maintainability guidelines

• Creates and maintains documentation, operating and disaster recovery procedures

• Establishes proactive system monitoring strategies

• Implements strategic enhancements to applications and interfaces with client systems

• Researches and evaluates software related technologies and products in order to make recommendations to management

• Utilizes and maintains appropriate change control procedures and standards

• Advocates, demonstrates, implements and supports best practices, standards and procedures including quality and delivery methodologies

• Ensures compliance with the documented software processes and procedures throughout the life cycle of software products

• Ensures day to day operational integrity of the system with rapid troubleshooting skills when issues arise

• Develops and maintains policies related to auditing and control of systems

• Partners with internal clients to understand business requirements and develop appropriate solutions • Creates and executes test plans to ensure system and data integrity

• Promotes and implements best practices, standards and procedures including quality and delivery methodologies



• Represents the application and/or IT team in working with other teams across the organization

• Performs other duties as assigned



Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field highly preferred; relevant work experience in lieu of degree may be considered

• Minimum three (3) years with hands-on application design, development, testing, implementation and support; targeted experience and training in all essential skills below may be considered in lieu of years of experience

• Demonstrated experience with internal and external integration-type projects and achieved success designing and building high-quality software applications

• Software development experience with large, complex, mission critical systems

Essential/Required Skills:

• Core Java, XML, JSON, Spring MVC, JDBC, Tomcat, Web Services (SOAP/REST), JavaScript, JQUERY, AJAX, HTML, CSS

• Experience with Java architecture, design, concepts and analysis

• Tomcat configuration and setup

• Code management using Gradle or Maven

• Knowledge of version control, SDLC and artifact management

• Web User Interface Design, Object-Oriented Design (OOD)

• Software Testing (Unit, System, Integration, Functional, Performance)

• Solution build and deployment

• Microsoft Office Preferred Skills:

• MS SQL Server 2014 and above, T-SQL

• Container based platforms and orchestration

• Cloud development

• Automated build processes

• Agile and Scrum software development and methodology

• OAuth 2
