Education Required:

·         Bachelor’s degree in accounting from a four-year accredited college or university required.

·         Master’s degree in business or CPA license preferred.  

·         Minimum of four to five (4-5) years of progressively responsible experience in accounting and/or finance environment required.

 

Skills Required:

·         Thorough understanding and working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and procedures required.

·         Strong accounting, quantitative and analytical skills.

·         Exhibit working knowledge of all general ledger functions and balancing intercompany accounts by verifying, allocating, reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.

·         Ability to create financial accounting statements, reports and records by collecting, analyzing and summarizing account information.

·         Aptitude for report writing skills in both Excel and software applications. 

·         Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of major accounting software applications.

·         Strong organization and time management skills with ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and/or tasks.

·         Excellent attention to detail and an ability to produce high-quality, accurate work in a deadline driven environment.

·         Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create and maintain solid working relationships across the organization.

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

·         Ability to take ownership and full responsibility of work product and work both independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with higher level of difficulty.

·         Ability to maintain confidential and/or proprietary information.

·         Ability and internal drive to demonstrate a winning attitude and a strong work ethic in the performance of all job responsibilities.

 

Basic Function:

·         Responsible for electronic retrieval of external investment information, filing monthly and quarterly investor reports and updating and recording investment values on a timely basis for month/year-end close.

·         Responsible for general ledger functions, financial reporting and financial profitability analyses for private equity partnerships and investments. 

·         Perform various accounting functions including research and analysis for variances, payables, receivables, collections, general ledger entries and reconciliations across all accounts.

·         Perform special project analyses as required and participate in developing and producing various financial reports.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Conduct monthly general ledger account reconciliations.

·         Process capital expenditures and reconcile the fixed asset module.

·         Contribute to the budgeting and forecasting processes and preparation of budget-to-actual variance reports. 

·         Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable.

·         Participate in monthly and year-end close processes by recording entries required for analyzing and summarizing information for financial reporting purposes.

·         Participate in annual external audits by completing requested materials and assist in preparation of assigned schedules for annual audits.

·         Perform as back-up for general accountant position including processing of accounts payable, accounts receivable and purchase card processing.

·         Conform with and abide by all regulatory guidance and internal policies and procedures.

·         Perform various other tasks as may be assigned. 

·         Position requires face-to-face personal interaction with staff, peers and other personnel; therefore, job responsibilities must be physically performed in MI offices and not in a telecommuting manner.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment.  This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phone, photocopiers, scanners and filing cabinets.  

 

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.  The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, open filing cabinets, stoop, kneel or crouch.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
