PURPOSE

The Associate Auditor is a staff position responsible for assisting SMC’s Internal Auditor in conducting independent internal audits to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance to processes and procedures.  This is an independent, objective assurance that is designed to add value and improve our operation.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

q  Observe business processes and procedures with impartiality

q  Perform risk assessment assigned by the Internal Auditor in a prompt manner

q  Assist in evaluating current risk management procedure efficiency

q  Aid in protecting assets of the organization from frauds and thefts

q  Help collect information to confirm whether the goals and objectives of the business are being met

q  Assist in conducting special studies

q  Help identify possible loopholes

q  Suggest to Internal Auditor possible risk aversion measures

q  Assist in identifying possible cost savings

q  Facilitate open communication with management

q  Conduct assigned follow-up audits to monitor management’s correction

q  Aid in analysis of business studies, process, procedures and data

q  Report preliminary audit findings to Internal Auditor

q  Provide data and assessments to be used in reporting to the all levels of management

q  Report to Internal Auditor suggestions of revised methods for internal controls and governance processes

q  Engage in continuous knowledge development regarding rules, regulations, best practices, tools, techniques, and performance standards

q  Audits will encompass all departments throughout the organization and will have different scope depending on the department.  Environmental Audits will make sure we are complying with environmental laws and regulations.  IT audit will make sure in part we are complying with confidential customer information and that only authorized users are able to gain access to privileged information and that the information itself is accurate.  Operational audits will in part make sure we are allocating resources correctly.  Those are some examples of scopes.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

q  Bachelor Degree in Accounting/Finance/Business

q  3 – 5 years relevant experience required

q  Excellent analytical, written/verbal communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills

q  Familiarity with all of SMC’s operational / supporting systems

q  Strong technical and problem solving capabilities with the ability to communicate to all levels of personnel

q  Confidential integrity is required
