Schedulers consolidate household goods shipments into safe and profitable loads for our hauling fleet while ensuring the on-time loading and delivery of our customers. This is achieved by utilizing SIRVA’s dispatch system and online reporting tools and by staying in constant contact with van line agent networks and hauling fleets.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

-Partner with agent operations personnel, drivers and SIRVA dispatchers to secure the resources necessary to service the customer. These resources may include the traditional hauling fleet, local agent crews or third-party service providers. Schedulers use their knowledge of operational policies and procedures to assign shipments and leverage network efficiencies to limit additional transportation and delay claim expense to SIRVA. (55%)


-Review and/or rework trips in progress to ensure they are on schedule and look for opportunities to better utilize capacity and expedite distressed shipments. Use creative problem-solving skills to resolve shipment or equipment obstacles with a sense of urgency and professionalism. With customer satisfaction in mind, schedulers proactively monitor trips for defects that may lead to service failures and resolve as appropriate. (30%)


-Assist the dispatch team in resolving load and delivery problems by personally contacting agents or drivers to facilitate solutions. (10%)


-Evaluate operational processes and procedures for improvement opportunities. Suggest improvements to operations leadership and assist with the implementation of any changes. (5%)



  • 2-4 years of experience working in transportation (household goods, general freight, rail, etc.)

  • Ability to work varied shift hours, including rotating evenings, weekends and holidays

  • Required Skills:  Strong verbal and written communication, customer service, teamwork, decision making, ability to work under pressure, critical and creative thinking, problem solving, attention to detail, computer skills, organization and a basic understanding of U.S. and Canadian geography

  • Education:  High school diploma or equivalent, bachelor’s degree preferred
