The product manager reports to the Head of Product Management for the IncuCyte product line, which resides in the Marketing organization. The product manager is the CEO of the instrumentation segment of our product portfolio. As the ultimate owner of product success, you will work alongside Engineering, Marketing Programs, Regional Business Managers, Sales and within our existing and potential customer base to ensure the right products and features are delivered at the right time, cost, and price. You are responsible for identifying opportunities, developing and getting approval for business cases, and then working cross-functionally via a stage gate product development process and strong marketing program to convert business cases into successful products. You are comfortable in a fast-paced environment with a results-oriented culture, and have experience owning and evolving a product roadmap.


What you can look forward to accomplishing:

  • Drive instrument product development process to bring innovative platforms to market

  • Create proposals and concepts, assess market opportunity and identify target markets, track competition, utilize market research and VOC to determine prioritized product requirements

  • Own the Product Roadmap for the instrument

  • Develop high level requirements and review feasibility and timing with engineering

  • Represent the Voice of Customer and manage day to day questions from engineering when they come to decision points during the Product Development Process (PDP) and have questions.

  • Report product development progress to wider Marketing organization and liaise with Marketing Programs

  • Create product launch plan and work with Marketing Programs to refine and execute launch plan

  • Write all content for new product launch including sales tools and web content.

  • Recommend updates to existing sales tools as needed.

  • Provide forecasts during PDP process to inform manufacturing builds.

  • Partner with Sales and Training organization to develop product training.
    Manage product life cycle

  • Support marketing strategy and execution of corresponding marketing programs.

  • Provide input as needed into campaign strategy, messaging, and training for new software modules.

  • Develop content for lead-generation including webinars and articles, work with R&D to develop technical content

  • Attend tradeshows or other industry events, deliver product presentations as needed

  • Serve as second line technical resource for technical support.


    Skills and experience that you need to bring to the company:    

  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science or Life Science and 7 years industry/functional experience

  • 5 years hardware product management experience (owning product strategy through launch)

  • 5 years product marketing experience (creating messaging, positioning and other content to drive demand gen and sales tools)

  • Experience in life science industry required, cell analysis instrumentation experience highly desired (e.g. microscopy or other imaging instrumentation).

  • Must possess strong analytical skills, plus experience identifying and quantifying market opportunities, developing strong business cases and making tough decisions. Must understand the downstream effects of decisions on stakeholders and can anticipate and address issues.

  • Experience with stage gate process highly desired.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, you know how to tailor your message for a variety of audiences, technical to sales-oriented, experienced to novice.

  • Ability to prioritize work independently, but seek help when needed. You know that getting things done quickly means leveraging the experience of others.

  • Adept in a cross-functional environment. You understand when and how to align with stakeholders, and know “the meeting before the meeting” is extremely important.
