What you can look forward to accomplishing:

The Downstream Field Applications Specialist is responsible for all aspects of technical support of customers and Sales to facilitate the sales process for the Downstream Purification Line,  (depth filtration, tangential flow filtration, chromatography, virus filtration, virus removal, sterilization grade filtration) in the defined region.

 

The Downstream Field Applications Specialist is the first point of contact for customers and sales resources in the Bay area in support of the Downstream product line including the following key responsibilities: 

 

  • Accountable for the technical support of the sales process

  • Support customer experience with the separations product line

  • Support enhancements to the separations product line

  • Present separations and other products during customer visits, exhibitions and prospecting activities

  • Perform hands-on trials and generate reports for separations products including depth filtration, tangential flow filtration, chromatography, virus filtration, virus removal, sterilization grade filtration and equipment

  • Perform hands-on product demos and trainings on separations portfolio including; systems, single-use devices and filter integrity testers

  • Demonstrate and manage evaluations of separations products and equipment at customer sites, trade shows and meetings

  • Attend industry conferences to keep on top of industry trends

  • Provide detailed scientific and technical support as part of the sales process

  • Implement of tactical plans to maximize market penetration

  • Communicate closely with separations group management, sales and product specialists on project status, updates, etc.

  • Build strong relationships and network with key customers and opinion leaders, encouraging publications involving our technology and development of PR opportunities

  • Work with validations and R&D as necessary to facilitate technology implementation

  • Other duties as identified or assigned

 

Skills and experience that you need to bring into the company:

  •  Intellectual curiosity 

  • Excellent technical, Scientific and Business problem solving skills

  • Interpersonal skills and solving interpersonal challenges
    Experience in a manufacturing process or laboratory setting in the biopharmaceutical industry.  

  • Experience in process engineering, process development, pilot or process scale cell culture, fermentation, filtration, purification or formulation and fill, regulatory affairs is desirable.

  • Familiarity with cGMP’s and operating in drug manufacturing environment.

  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills within a technical/scientific setting

  • Experience in a multi-tasking environment

  • Successfully meet deadlines independently with minimal supervision

  • Develop and execute experimental protocols

  • Desire to learn and seek out valuable information 
    Microsoft Office, proficiency in Excel
     


Qualifications:

  • 2+ years’ experience in downstream process development

  • Bachelors’ degree in a technical discipline, preferably in chemical, biotechnology or mechanical engineering or biological sciences

  •  

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Position is field based requiring around 50% travel with some international travel 

  • Must be able to lift 35lbs (transporting equipment to customer sites)
