Software Quality Analyst

RxBenefits is hiring! We are adding to the growing IT team in our Birmingham, AL headquarters. The Software Quality Analyst owns the development and execution of manual test cases for applications and assigned projects. He/She has an excellent understanding of the business, its operational processes, and the software that supports the processes. The person in this role understands the design of existing and new features and implements/executes a test plan to ensure that the software is functioning as designed. The Software Quality Analyst provides a high degree of coordination between the product owner, the technical designer, and development team to ensure quality solutions are delivered to the end users.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement QA methodologies, processes, and documentation for validating application projects and features
• Develop and maintain specific test plans, test scripts, and test results
• Perform System, Functional, and Integration testing as well as Performance testing where appropriate
• Assist in the development of automated tests for future regression of assigned projects and features
• Support end users in answering application questions and validation of application functionality
• Ability to perform in an Agile environment
• Contribute to the project planning process by estimating QA tasks and deliverables
• Complete status reports and participate in departmental and project team meetings
• Communicate and escalate information about timetables and milestones that may not be met
• Work closely with product owners, architects, and developers to understand system and business requirements
• Work with Product managers and Users during UAT
• Create user testing documentation to be used during UAT


Required Skills / Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business, or equivalent experience
• 3-5 years related QA Testing experience
• 3 years writing and tracking of software defects and compiling release documentation
• 1 year of customer-facing experience
• Experience in structured testing methodology, with a proven ability to breakdown business requirements/functional/non-functional requirements into high and detailed test cases and test scenarios
• Experience working in an Agile or Scrum environment
• Exceptional analytic thinker and problem solver
• Experience writing complex SQL queries involving multiple table joins, nested queries, and SQL functions
• Experience with a commercially available test management tools is a plus
• Experience with test automation is a strong plus
• Experience in healthcare/benefit management systems is a strong plus
• Ability to adjust to competing or shifting priorities as needed
• Team player with strong interpersonal skills, can report business impact to the lay person, and is persuasive in recommending solutions to a technical audience
