PURPOSE OF ROLE:

 

Coordinate and Administrate Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) programs to ensure field operations and Ravago facilities comply with Federal, State and Local regulations, meets required supplier HSE protocols, Ravago HSE program and policies and that all employees work in a safe environment and are effectively implementing Ravago’s environmental initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintain systems and programs, which teach and promote compliance with Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) regulations, initiatives, procedures, and policies, including local, state, and federal rules leading to the protection of employees, the community and the environment.
  • Assist with the maintenance of required health safety and environmental training documents/files.
  • Interface with Management and HSE Team to facilitate a work environment that supports a safe and healthy culture.
  • Conduct weekly, monthly and quarterly safety audits and inspections of equipment not limited to fuel fired equipment, machinery, and safety apparatus to identify and correct potential hazards and to ensure safety specification, regulations, and compliance is met.
  • Timely follow-up on violations and implementation of remedial training as a result of internal audits or external issues.
  • Conduct, attend, assist and follow up on safety and environmental meetings for specific Ravago sites and Ravago field employees and regularly scheduled supplier contractor safety and project planning meetings as required.
  • Assist, support and advise management with incident reporting and investigation; which includes but is not limited to industrial accidents, near-miss incidents, and occupational injuries, property damage, first aid and OSHA recordable events to determine causes and implement preventive measures and endure they are working and effectively implemented.
  • Coordinate, monitor and schedule required field employee site specific safety training to include but is not limited to PPE fit testing, industrial hygiene testing (air & noise) as needed interpret results and assist in the implementation of appropriate corrective actions.
  • Assist and support facility management in developing initiatives/positive reinforcement that will help motivate employees and cultivate the safety culture in the field and Ravago sites
  • Conduct weekly, monthly and quarterly field visits to chemical plants and Ravago sites to ensure HS&E compliance and interface with plant management.  
  • Prepare and present reports of field audits for management, HSE and risk management review.
  • Interact with worksite personnel to facilitate effective communication and coaching of best practices.
  • Review and recommend approval of site specific safety plans and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
  • Review and prepare responses to contractor Safety Requests for Information (RFI’s).
  • Conduct internal and external worksite assessments to evaluate hazards, prepare appropriate mitigation solutions, and assist in implementing preventative and corrective actions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE / REQUIREMENTS / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

Requirements/Knowledge

  • Knowledge of applicable regulations (OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, EPA, DOT)
  • 2+ years of experience in Health Safety & Environmental
  • Must be clean-shaven to access chemical plants.
  • Experience working in the chemical plants, preferred

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in HS&E, preferred

Skills

  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Time management it critical
  • Detail oriented, disciplined, ability to prioritize & multi-task
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Travel required

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
  • This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day.
  • The employee may occasionally lift and move items over 50 pounds.
