Mobile Psych Rehab [PRS] PRS Worker or Specialist

Job Summary: 

This position is responsible for providing mobile psychiatric rehabilitation and support services to participants in need of skills training, symptom management, and resource coordination in the areas of living, learning, working, and socialization. The Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services (PRS) Worker will provide recovery-oriented interventions according to each participant’s rehabilitation plan and will provide input to the team regarding the participant’s progress, goal attainment and continued need for such services. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities  

  • Clinical Skills & Knowledge – Utilizes experience, up-to-date knowledge of psychiatric rehabilitation principles and recovery-oriented approaches to provide sound clinical services; collaboratively with program participants, assesses individual strengths and needs and develops a recovery-oriented rehabilitation plan according to each participant’s self-identified goals;  respectfully engages persons in a way that recognizes every person’s recovery process is unique, and consequently supports them in identifying strengths, existing supports, and community resources;demonstrates ability to build rapport and show positive regard for participants; focuses on empowerment while supporting and/or educating participants to achieve their personal goals; able to model and teach participants how to become active participants in recovery process. 
     

  • Skills Teaching – Demonstrates ability to provide skills training and teaching, to both individual participants and groups where appropriate, with a variety of methods based on individual client needs and goals; able to identify areas where skills teaching are needed and develop strategies and interventions to facilitate training. 
     

  • Resource Management – Effectively assists participants in accessing and utilizing natural resources to include housing resources, use of public transportation, accessing local food banks and discount stores, budgeting money to meet individual needs and living expenses, accessing cash assistance, social security or other needed benefits, and linking participants with vocational and educational training programs and services. 
     

  • Liaison – Establishes and maintains relationships and communication with other services and providers to ensure continuity of care, resource coordination and effectiveness of services and supports; maintains positive relationships and communication with families and/or significant others; serves as the organization’s representative while participating in meetings.
     

  • Organizational Skills – Demonstrates ability to work independently in the community by managing time and daily schedule, making decisions with participants in the field and acting on them as needed, adjusting schedule based on emergencies and/or priorities, meeting daily and monthly productivity requirements and scheduling and keeping supervisory appointments on a routine basis. 
     

  • Crisis Management – Ability to recognize and manage client crisis situations effectively.   
     

  • Documentation -- Effective management of documentation responsibilities by maintaining accurate records of all interactions with participants, other providers, vendors and representatives from external organizations; adheres to documentation guidelines as established by regulatory bodies and internal policies. 
     

  • Marketing and Recruitment- Develop relationships with targeted individuals who would benefit from PRS services. 
     

  • Collaborative Team Work- Ability to work closely with PRS team members towards common goals.  Includes attending, participating and progress reporting in weekly team meetings.

    Performs All Other Duties as Assigned 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications  

  • One of the following: 

- Associates degree and 1 year work experience in mental health direct service  

- CPS (Certified Peer Specialist) Certificate and 1 additional year paid or volunteer work experience in mental  health direct service 

- High School diploma or GED and 2 years work experience in human services which must include 1 year of mental health direct service 

- Bachelor’s degree with academic concentration in an area relevant to the position  

  • Commitment to recovery, choice, empowerment, and the ability of people with serious mental illness or co-occurring disorders to find meaningful lives in the community. 
     

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, organizational skills, knowledge of practical self-care skills & ability to work with minimal supervision. 
     

  • Ability to effectively work with persons with mental illness and/or developmental disabilities & implement rehabilitation plans for their program participation. 
     

  • Must be able to pass child abuse history, PA and FBI criminal background check. 
     

  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Applications, and electronic recordkeeping systems) 
     

  • Ability to read and write English 
     

  • Valid driver’s license. 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • A self-identified current or former user of mental health or co-occurring services who is in recovery, and can relate to others who are now using those services. 
     

  • DBH Peer Specialist Certification (CPS) 
     

  • Experience working in behavioral health. 
     

  • Training in Wellness Self-Management (Illness Management and Recovery) and/or WRAP. 
     

  • Experience in mobile fee for service work in Philadelphia 
     

  • Additional program specific minimum qualifications may apply. 

 

ONGOING TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Required to pursue certification as a CPRP (Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner).  
     

  • Required to complete 18 hours annually of ongoing training in the areas of psychiatric rehabilitation approaches and recovery-oriented services.  
     

  • Required to take 2 day “Orientation to Psychiatric Rehabilitation” training which may involve some travel.   
     

  • Required to attend various agency mandated trainings on an annual basis
