LSO is seeking a Payroll Specialist for our corporate office in Austin, TX. This position will report directly to the Payroll & Benefits Manager. The role may support multiple business units across multiple locations.


  • Processes all payroll and payroll related bonus distributions for all business units in Ceridian for 450+ employees and 3 companies

  • Reviewing of payroll database to ensure accuracy of information prior to each payroll run

  • Analyze all import files before uploading into Ceridian for accuracy

  • Process out of state payroll for multiple geographies

  • Data entry for all time and attendance and personnel transactions such as new hire Termination, leave of absence, and deductions

  • Printing of manual checks, obtaining signatures and shipping these to the relevant locations

  • Working as a part of the Human Resources department with respect to processing employee status changes, pay and/or title changes, location changes and leave status

  • Input vacation and sick hours for employees when necessary

  • Work closely with accounting for any reporting needs such as GL reports, Manual checks, head count and company accruals for end of month balancing etc.

  • Ensures accuracy and integrity of information

  • Runs reports from employee database as requested

  • Files papers and electronic documents into appropriate employee files; performs paper and system audits as necessary

  • Understands interface of Dayforce HRIS system, ensuring the accuracy of information

  • Demonstrates ownership, initiative, and the ability to deal with ambiguity

  • Experience working in a critical deadlines environment

  • Ability to manage personal and sensitive information with a high level of discretion and confidentiality

  • Ability to work independently and as a team member

  • Experience with payroll taxes and garnishment administration

  • Extensive use of excel using pivot tables, v-lookups and formulas

  • Running Year End reports and audits

  • Working with Safety to ensure Injury Pay (workers comp) is current and accurate


  • At least 5 years of complete ownership of payroll for 450+ employees
  • Accounting background preferred. CPP License Preferred
  • Systems Experience: Dayforce (Ceridian), Excel

  • Strong data analysis and interpretation skills;

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to anticipate challenges, prioritize and respond effectively to sensitive issues.
