KI is seeking an Automation Engineer for our Manitowoc Plant.This position is responsible for design, engineering, start-up, and maintenance support responsibilities for process and safety control systems supporting operations.This position works with Manufacturing to ensure products can be produced efficiently, cost effectively and safely.As a key component, this position provides support/development for all automated processes and projects, control systems and safety systems.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Controls/Automation Engineering: (60%)

    • Design, develop and implement process control systems to be used in production and manufacturing processes

    • Prepare engineering estimates for projects from design thru start-up

    • Create tests and verification methods to ensure process control and safety systems are installed and functioning properly

    • Ensure compliance to all local, state, and federal applicable safety and environmental regulations

    • Establish and implement control standards

  • New Product/Process Development: (30%)

    • Lead or assist in the design, approval, build and implementation of equipment and process required for new products or product enhancements

    • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve capacity and productivity problems

    • Responsible to develop and maintain ergonomically correct methods and processes

  • Continuous Improvement: (10%)

    • Plan, coordinate and implement continuous improvement activities to improve key performance indicators (contribution, on-time, cost of quality, incident rate, net efficiency, safety, etc.)


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • 4-year degree in a related Engineering field or related 2-year degree with equivalent experience

  • 5 or more years of experience in process control systems, distributed control systems and programmable logic control design configuring control systems for industrial applications

  • Knowledge of Bosch controls

  • Allen Bradly controls

  • G&L controls

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and BPCS

  • Capability to manage multiple projects

  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing/continuous improvement concepts

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to solve problems

  • Ability to work with other people within and outside of the company

  • Ability to work independently

  • Creativity
