ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT SENIOR

CHILD SUPPORT SERVICES

 

Kenosha County Child Support Services offers a unique opportunity for those who desire a challenging and rewarding career which positively impacts the well-being of children and families.

 

Child Support Services is looking for an Administrative Assistant Senior to perform first-level administrative support to agency staff and attorneys.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists the Child Support Attorney in court and at the office.

  • Drafts orders, letters, reports, agendas, and other documents.

  • Inputs information into program databases.

  • Follows up and tracks necessary paperwork.

  • Files documents with the court through the Electronic Filing portal of the Wisconsin Circuit Court Access system.

  • Monitors the status of cases to ensure appropriate action is taken in a timely manner.

  • Collects child support payments, drafts and files orders to facilitate the release of individuals from the Kenosha County Jail.

  • Schedules, coordinates, monitors, and updates the agency’s Genetic Testing calendar.

  • Reviews and updates files after court and begins processing orders issued by the court commissioner or judge.

  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS - MINIMUM

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Three years of experience performing clerical duties and functions.

  • Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS - PREFERRED

Education and Experience

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Paralegal, Administrative Professional, or Human Services/Social Services/legal related field.

  • Experience Using KIDS, CARES, CWW, and or eWISACWIS state databases.

 

OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

 

COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE OF JOB DUTIES

Knowledge of:

  • Legal terminology, legal documents, and legal writing proficiency.

  • Documents and information needed for court proceedings, as well as court automation programs similar to systems used by Kenosha County.

 

Skill in:

  • Entering alphanumeric data into multiple entry systems.

  • Interpreting and applying complex laws, regulations, and rules.

  • Providing quality customer service to customers in a timely manner.

  • Using office equipment, including computer, calculator, scanner, phone, and fax machine.

  • Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.

  • Verbal and written communication.

  • Attention to detail and organization.

  • Bi-lingual proficiency (English/Spanish) a plus.

 

Ability to:

  • Work with both electronic and paper files.

  • Gather, organize, and evaluate data.

  • Meet schedules and deadlines of work.

  • Follow oral and written instructions.

  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • Remain professional and courteous at all times.

  • Maintain confidential information.

  • Work in multiple computer systems and databases.

  • Enter alphanumeric data at 7,000 keystrokes per hour net.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • The position involves light physical demands, such as exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
