ISO New England oversees the 24/7 operation of the power grid that covers the six-states of  New England and administers the region’s $10+ billion “stock exchange” for the buying and selling of wholesale electricity. The power system is constantly evolving as new technologies emerge and energy policies evolve. There is a lot going on at our organization behind the scenes to make sure the grid continuously yields reliable electricity at competitive prices while addressing the unique challenges that come along with our industry.

Department description:
 
The Finance department at the ISO is responsible for safeguarding and growing the Company’s assets, establishing and maintaining a functioning set of policies and procedures, while ensuring compliance to audit and generally accepted accounting principles and ethical standards.

What will you be working on:

 
The Finance intern will be involved in the day-to-day accounting work of the company’s Finance department. 

How will you make an impact:
  • Daily cash management including
  • Daily reconciliation of all cash accounts
  • Accounts receivable (A/R) processing
  • Data entry for quarterly forecasting, annual budgeting
  • Month end close
  • Maintenance of fixed-asset system
  • Preparing journal entries
  • General ledger analysis and account reconciliation
  • Accounts payable (A/P) processing including check runs and inquiries
What we look for in a candidate:
  • Current enrollment in a 4-year accounting program
  • Skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
  • Excellent technical skills in computer software and accounting applications
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal)
  • Previous work experience in a professional setting
To be eligible for the internship candidate must have completed at least the first year of college and be currently enrolled in a four year or graduate-level academic program. Candidates must have the authority to work in the US on a permanent basis, without requiring sponsorship.
