Supervisor, Resource Center

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation’s most effective animal advocacy organization, is seeking a Resource Center Supervisor for our South Florida Wildlife Center (SFWC) in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The main responsibility of this position is to develop, organize and maintain initiatives and practices that enhance customer service, expand community education, and advance SFWC’s community outreach, mission and goals. Oversees and participates in all SFWC’s customer service-related activities and provides leadership to Resource Center staff and volunteers relating to patient admissions, rescue/release dispatch, donation solicitation/acceptance and retail transactions.

 

This position will be responsible for:

 

  • Performing all departmental functions, including patient admissions, rescue vehicle dispatch, data entry and driving of company vehicle for patient pick-ups, events, etc;

  • Developing, soliciting, and coordinating presentations to inform the public on various topics, such as SFWC’s role within the community, humane and safe co-existence with wildlife, species-specific information/humane response, and other animal welfare related items;

  • Supervising and training Resource Center staff and volunteers to ensure optimum performance and compliance with approved protocols;

  • Ensuring that exemplary customer service is provided to clients, volunteers, and staff and that SFWC’s mission, services, programs and events are actively and enthusiastically promoted;

  • Resolving customer service-related issues and soliciting and utilizing promotional opportunities;

  • Assisting with development initiatives by building business and individual partnerships, networking with other agencies, assisting with fundraising events, site visits, and developing promotional displays/materials;

  • Maintaining inventory of all Resource Center materials and merchandise, including supplies, species specific information sheets and training documents;

  • Working with the Director of Operations to identify and procure retail center items as well as ensuring retail transactions and displays meet optimal standards;

  • Attaining and maintaining proficiency in all data tracking systems integral to the Resource Center processes;

  • Effectively and accurately capturing data and ensuring data integrity in both paper and electronic systems;

  • Providing weekly/monthly reports on client services and make suggestions for departmental improvements.

    Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience required;

  • Minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in customer service;

  • Experience in a nonprofit or animal protection environment desirable.

  • Minimum two years of management experience;

  • Excellent oral, written, and public speaking communication skills;

  • Must have or have ability to expediently acquire a comprehensive knowledge of wildlife species, habitats and state and federal laws pertaining to wild animals;

  • Commitment to the mission, values, and goals of the SFWC;

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the SFWC mission, policies, programs, and services;

  • Strong knowledge of database management, Microsoft Office and use of social media;

  • Highly motivated, polite, and professional;

  • Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license and be insurable;

  • Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule;

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of donor and constituent information, personnel matters, and other sensitive information;

  • Ability to move/lift up to 50 pounds.
