Engineer IV - Systems Engineer

EDUCATION DESIRED: MS or Ph.D in Systems, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or related fields.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Perform day-to-day systems engineering activities to execute all system engineering processes in a Lean new business/research-type environment including: requirements definition/analysis/management (including interfaces), architecture design, integration, validation and verification, decision analysis, technical planning/assessment, risk management and technical data management. Must be able to obtain and maintain required security clearances. 

EXPERIENCE DESIRED: At least 8 years as lead engineer with demonstrable experience in Systems Engineering

Strong hands-on experience with Systems Engineering processes in a Lean new business/research-type environment, including proficiency in Excel, Excel macros and VBA in lieu of standard COTS SE tools. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Project, Visio) is essential. Ability to work with MATLAB and to generate engineered custom Excel tools for analysis. Experience with database management. Familiarity with Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF), Systems Modeling Language (SysML), Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), IBM/DOORS and/or Multidisciplinary, Design, Analysis and Optimization (MDAO).

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Proficiency in use of computers, engineering work stations, complex electronic equipment, oral and written communication, interaction with vendors/colleagues and willingness to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Ability to work well in a team and independently. 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: U.S. citizenship is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance. Ability to obtain Interim and/or Final Security Clearance (Post Start); Active DoD Security Clearance, SSBI is a plus. 

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
