Engineer III - RFIC Designer
EDUCATION DESIRED: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Contribute technical expertise and work within a focused team that designs, fabricates, integrates and tests RFIC and MMIC circuits and subsystems at frequencies ranging from 0.1 to 200+ GHz. Work closely with scientists and engineers to develop state of the art RF components (LNAs, PAs, Switches, Filters and other circuits) on RF/SOI CMOS, SiGe BiCMOS, and III-V GaN/InP processes that are used in front-end modules for communication, radar and EW applications. Additional job functions include solving customer problems, writing invention disclosures, publishing papers, briefing customers, participating in proposal activities and assisting in marketing HRL expertise.
EXPERIENCE DESIRED: At least 3 years of experience with high-frequency circuit, electro-magnetic and system simulators such as Cadence, ADS, AWR, VSS, Sonnet and HFSS for design of RF and analog integrated circuit based on III-V, CMOS and Bi-CMOS technologies, and passives components. Knowledge of RF network analyzer measurements and testing of RFIC/MMIC and module components are required.
KNOWLEDGE DESIRED: Working knowledge of high frequency circuit/system simulators and CAD layout. A working familiarity with common passive and active microwave structures as well as antennas. Knowledge of module and subsystem operation/integration is a plus. Understanding of device physics desired. Familiarity with CMOS foundry technologies and their layout practices is a plus. Knowledge of large signal measurements and load pull is a plus.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Applicant must be able to interact professionally with program managers, co-workers, customers, operate complex electronic equipment, perform detailed analyses of integrated circuits, and prepare written and oral presentations. Ability to work well in a team and independently. Must be willing to travel and work in a team of highly skilled engineers on complex projects, and willingness to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
