Contract - Additive Manufacturing Technician

EDUCATION DESIRED: High School Diploma and at least 5 years of relevant experience.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Assist in research and development of additive manufacturing technologies. Support the entire development cycle including raw material synthesis, sample fabrication, materials analysis and mechanical testing. Typical tasks for this job include ordering supplies, preparing powder feedstock materials, loading and operating 3D printers, unloading and cleaning 3D printers as well as performing heat treatments and tests. The ideal candidate has lots of hands-on experience, creative problem solving skills, and the ability to work effectively on a team as well as independently.


EXPERIENCE DESIRED: The candidate should have at least 5 years of experience working in industry as a technician or engineer. Hands-on experience with manufacturing equipment and techniques is highly desirable. Experience operating machinery such as mixers, mills, presses, furnaces or mechanical test frames is desirable. Familiarity with quality control is a plus. Should be familiar with safe chemical handling practices and common laboratory safety procedures.


KNOWLEDGE DESIRED: Knowledge of standard protocols for multi-step manufacturing is highly desirable. Knowledge of basic materials processing techniques is desired. Excellent communication skills (written and oral) are required.


ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to perform work while wearing a powered or unpowered air purifying respirator. Must be able to work for extended periods while standing or sitting at a computer workstation. Must be sufficiently mobile to work within a laboratory environment.Must have visual and hearing acuity, manual dexterity and good verbal and written skills.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (e.g. driver’s license special tools or restrictions): U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status required.


This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
 
Selected candidate will be hired through a temporary agency and subject to the agency's pre-employment substance abuse testing.
