Contract - Tech Professional - Wireless Network Design and Simulation
LABOR CHARGE: DIRECT
SCHEDULED WORK WEEK HOURS: 40 hours
EDUCATION DESIRED: BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Development and simulation/emulation-based testing and evaluation of experimental on-board, secure, vehicular wireless information, entertainment, and sensor networks
EXPERIENCE DESIRED: The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with wireless network design, particularly networks designed to support WiFi handheld and ZigBee sensor devices, and evaluation using ns2/ns3 and CORE simulation/emulation platforms. Candidates with relevant experience developing/evaluating on-board, secure, vehicular wireless networks are highly desired. Candidates are expected to be highly-skilled in C/C++, be highly-principled in the fundamentals of software engineering, and have a solid understanding of fixed and mobile wireless networking. Strong candidates will also have experience working in an applied research environment, capable of self-guided development of innovative solutions to the kinds of hard problems that arise in advanced systems prototyping.
KNOWLEDGE DESIRED: C and C++ programming, Linux operating systems, TCP/IP networks, Fixed and mobile wireless network design and configuration (WiFi, ZigBee), Network simulation/emulation tools (ns2/ns3, CORE), System software development with GNU GCC/GDB and CMake, SVN and Git software versioning and revision control systems
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Good communication (verbal and written) skills, active participation in R & D team activities is required, able and willing to occasionally travel.
Selected candidates will be hired through a temporary agency and subject to the agency's pre-employment substance abuse testing.
