Scientist IV Post Doc - Machine Learning and Computer Vision
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Primary job function is to perform R & D in machine learning, reinforcement learning, deep learning, computer vision and other areas. Tasks will include the development, simulation, evaluation, and implementation in software of machine learning and computer vision algorithms applied to a variety of applications. Additional job functions include solving customer problems, writing invention disclosures, publishing papers, briefing customers, and assisting in marketing HRL expertise.
EXPERIENCE DESIRED: Research experience in one or more of the following areas: machine learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, computer vision, 2D and 3D object recognition. Application of machine learning and computer vision and techniques to target detection, target recognition, image/video captioning, activity recognition, reinforcement learning and unsupervised learning. Experience developing innovative solutions based upon the application of relevant research results from a wide variety of sources. Familiarity with C, C++, Python, JAVA, OpenCV, PCL, and/or Matlab/Simulink. Experience in using machine learning tools and packages (e.g., Caffe, Torch, TensorFlow).
KNOWLEDGE DESIRED: Extensive working knowledge of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN) and reinforcement learning is a must. Expertise in computer vision, 2D or 3D object recognition or activity recognition is also required.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Good communication (verbal and written) skills, active participation in R&D team activities is required. Able and willing to occasionally travel.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (e.g. driver’s license, special tools or restrictions): U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status required.
