Human Resources Generalist
Provide general HR support to the HR department and work closely with senior HR management in supporting designated geographic regions. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: employee leaves, employee relations, performance management, policy implementation, recruitment and employment law compliance.
Manage requests/claims for Family Medical Leave, NYS Paid Family Leave, short and long-term disability and Workers Compensation and track in HRIS for reporting purposes.
Coordinate performance review process-generate forms, track status and follow-up with managers.
Manage the development and maintenance of comprehensive job descriptions to accurately reflect the responsibilities and requirements of each position.
Assist in the development of employee benefit programs necessary to attract and retain qualified personnel and continually assess new programs that promote a high level of morale.
Participate in departmental and organizational improvement efforts by gathering, documenting and analyzing information (i.e. turnover stats, exit interview results, entrance interview results, employee grievances, etc.)
May assist with benchmarking, exit interviews, non-attorney recruitment through the collecting and screening of applications to ensure they meet minimum qualifications, communicating with applicants and agencies, maintaining employment statistics, maintenance of applicant flow database and interviewing applicants as required.
Provide information for RFP’s.
Manage adverse background checks.
Coordinate with other departments regarding client requests and questionnaires.
Coordinate years of service award programs and professional staff retirements.
Develop and maintain HR libraries.
Prepare and maintain employee handbooks and organization charts. Update department information and documents on intranet.
Assist with mergers and/or group onboarding.
Act as a resource to other department members.
Participate in the development of compensation structures through utilization of benchmarking, salary surveys and internet resources.
Act as resource to managers, attorneys, and employees to answer questions and assist in the resolution of job-related problems and concerns.
Assist CHRO in ensuring compliance with all applicable labor laws and standards.
Enhances own professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, participation in professional organizations, and reading of current literature.
Understands and complies with all applicable Firm policies, procedures, and philosophies.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum 3 years as an HR Generalist including leave management and recruiting/interviewing; benefits experience a plus.
High school diploma or equivalent; HR certification a plus.
MS Office and HRIS software.
Demonstrated leadership skills such as organizing, problem-solving, planning, communicating and decision-making.
Generalist ability in all disciplines of human resource management.
Ability to establish effective working relationships throughout operational groups.
Demonstrates good organizational skills for prioritizing workload
Demonstrates ability to absorb new information and develop understanding efficiently
Must be able to manage competing priorities
