The Cincinnati Enquirer, part of Gannett Inc. and the USA TODAY NETWORK, is a seeking a talented, energetic storytelling reporter to join our enterprise team.

We aim to produce powerful, gripping storytelling journalism that is written with a narrative focus, an ear for detail and a style that beckons readers to join them to discover the why of things, the who of things and the how of things. We are interested in stories that have a strong sense of place. No topic is off-limits as long it would interest and intrigue our readers. Our stories must be told across multiple platforms – digital, print, social media and more (podcasts, Facebook Live, etc.). We seek storytelling that engages our audience.

The best candidate will:

  • Have a passion for telling stories about real people and the writing ability to convey that.

  • Have exceptional sense of newsworthiness and a sense of urgency as needed.

  • Have an ability to report deeply and write with authority, voice and vigor. Strong interviewing skills and experience in cultivating and working with sources is crucial.

  • Be a team player who also is highly organized, self-motivated, capable of juggling daily and enterprise work and meeting deadlines.

  • Have an ability to collaborate effectively with visual and social media teams and story-telling coach at the beginning of the reporting process.

  • Have the openness and ability to create visual content (photos, videos, Facebook Lives, infographics, etc.).

  • Have an understanding of social media monitoring/measurement tools and web analytics.

  • Serve as a public ambassador through community outreach and connect with influencers and engaged readers through social media.

  • Have at least three years of professional journalism experience.

  • Perform other duties as necessary.

  • Have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation and the minimum liability insurance required by state law.
