General Assignment/Culture & Diversity

The Courier Journal and are seeking a general assignment reporter to focus on cultural and diversity trends in our Louisville metropolitan region and across Kentucky. We want a storyteller with keen observational skills, the ability to navigate data trends and the comfort level to canvass our communities for meaningful stories that break new ground. This reporter will write stories at the intersection of equality, race, religion, age, ethnicity and gender. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in conceiving and delivering enterprise stories that rarely, if ever, come from agendas to public meetings. We are seeking someone who can identify trends, champion new and often unheard voices in the community, and take readers to places they’ve never been through sophisticated storytelling.

This reporter will be expected to write daily stories, signature enterprise pieces and occasional profiles. Comfort in front of the camera and Spanish-speaking skills are a plus.
