The USA TODAY NETWORK seeks a Producer / Editor to join its expanding sports video team. The team is responsible for creating and growing brand-defining sports franchises for an array of platforms. The position is based in New York.
The Producer / Editor will pitch, develop, write and edit sports video segments and features. A track record of creating successful digital sports content is essential.
The ideal candidate is a creative, passionate storyteller with sharp attention to detail. You’re digitally savvy and comfortable crafting video ranging from short and mid-form episodic to socially-fueled segments. You’ll be a key participant in content development, including storyboarding and piloting.
The candidate will be a hands-on contributor and excellent communicator. They’ll have the ability to interface with editors, producers, journalists, product teams and sales teams around the USA TODAY Network and Sports Media Group.
Execute sports franchise video production including development, planning, production, scripting, and video editing.
Identify and produce packages of video content to support network objectives, including major sporting events and special coverage.
Help manage publishing processes to ensure content is optimized across multiple platforms.
Regularly assess video performance using Adobe and other analytics tools, using data to make informed decisions to about format, approach and promotion of content.
Remain immersed in digital video industry trends to help ensure our slate of franchises stays ahead of the curve.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in sports media and at least 3 years in digital video production.
- Excellent understanding of sports across all leagues, and a passion for its history and culture
- Experience producing video content for digital platforms in multiple formats
- Demonstrated creativity for unique series-style approaches to a variety of topics, platforms and audiences
- Proficient in After Effects, Premiere and Photoshop
- Strong editorial decision-making skills
