DATA VISUAL REPORTER
The News Journal/Delawareonline.com is seeking a data reporter who can help raise the quality of data visuals and in-depth reporting at the state’s largest news source. The successful candidate has experience and expertise acquiring, organizing and presenting data in a way that is clear, attractive and informative for readers. He or she should also have solid skills with database management tools such as Excel, Access, SPSS, mapping software and SQL. Experience with coding and programming to analyze and present data a plus. We are looking for a reporter, someone who can find and tell stories, illustrated through these tools, and who can also work with other reporters.
At least 3 years of experience at a daily news organization.
Familiarity with digital storytelling tools and techniques.
Outstanding core journalism skills, including writing, spelling, grammar and AP style.
Must thrive in a competitive news market while possessing a collaborative spirit.
Deep understanding of journalism ethics.
Experience with social media, online metrics, third-party tools and content management systems.
- Ability to multi-task.
- This role requires a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the minimum liability insurance required by state law.
