CU Medicine is dedicated to providing healthcare and administrative support to the University Of Colorado School Of Medicine’s nearly 3,000 providers. We are seeking a highly motivated Medical Front Office Assistant to join our team at the CU Rocky Mountain OB/GYN clinic location.

 

The Medical Front Office Assistant is responsible for providing outstanding customer service to both physicians and patients in scheduling patient encounters within the CU Rocky Mountain OB-GYN practice.  The individual in this position will perform a broad spectrum of duties related to the effective and efficient scheduling of patients for outpatient visits and procedures in the CU-RMOBGYN patient office.  This includes maintaining precise interactions with nurses, physicians, and any other departments or functions involved in the delivery of patient care services.  The Medical Front Office Assistant will schedule outpatient visits, including data entry into Epic, prepare all necessary documentation within medical record for physician(s) to review, determine and complete any needed insurance pre-authorization, and mail information packets to patients as necessary.  Schedule and/or attend various meetings to facilitate communication of key information regarding patient scheduling or other activities related to the accomplishment of the Division’s clinical activities.  Obtain referrals and authorizations as necessary for all clinic patient encounters, procedures and surgeries which may require interactions with insurance companies and a working knowledge of various types of insurance along with CPT and Dx coding.  Coordinate clinical workload for physicians and nurses to include answering patient phone calls and directing them appropriately.  Perform other duties and assist with special projects as assigned.

 

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a health-care setting including exposure to complex patient scheduling in an electronic medical record system; bachelor’s degree may be considered in lieu of experience.  Must demonstrate expertise with various computer programs including all MS Office Suite applications.  High level of verbal and written communication in conjunction with professional telephone etiquette is essential.  Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to maintain a positive attitude at all times and work with diversified customer clientele is required.  Must be flexible and capable of handling multiple and shifting priorities.  The ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner is required.  Must demonstrate the ability to act independently, have excellent interpersonal skills, and be able to maintain positive working relationships.  Broad knowledge of medical practice front office operations and medical terminology is required.  Familiarity with insurance plans, ICD-10/CPT coding and the prior authorization requirements for procedures and tests is a plus.
