CU Medicine is dedicated to providing healthcare and administrative support to the University Of Colorado School Of Medicine’s nearly 3,000 providers. We are seeking a skilled medical billing professional to join our Patient Accounting Department as a Senior Medical Billing Specialist.

The Senior Medical Billing Specialist is a high-level member of the Accounts Receivable Resolution (ARR) team and will serve as an additional resource to the Manager and/or Supervisor in the day-to-day responsibilities of the Department.  The individual in this position will respond to questions and work to resolve account/denial resolution issues.  Assist in coordination of information throughout the team. Serve as the escalation point for insurance follow-up issues, track/respond to denial trends and manage the most complex accounts. Review and resolve particularly complex claims, denials and credits through assigned CB work files and/or other tools as designed within the unit.  Communicate issues to management that may have a negative financial impact on assigned departments at the University Of Colorado School Of Medicine. Monitor denial trends and recommend solutions for identified problems, providing specific details and back-up materials/examples.  Assist in training staff in assigned specialties and in the use of Centricity Business functions in order to improve internal processes and minimize unnecessary redundancy of work assignments.


Requires a high school diploma and 6 years’ experience in medical practice billing; bachelor’s degree preferred. Must have and maintain a strong working knowledge of ICD10 and CPT coding as it relates to physician billing; CPC certification preferred. Strong PC software experience and advanced oral and written communication skills required. Must have proven ability in collections and negotiation as well as the ability to understand and apply contract language to billing.
