Environmental Resource Solutions (ERS) a division of SES Energy Services LLC is a Jacksonville, FL-based natural resource consulting firm. The ERS Division provides natural resource environmental consulting services to state, aviation and private sector clients. ERS is looking for an Airport Wildlife Biologist.



  • Assists with planning, developing, and implementing wildlife management programs
    for civilian and military airfields
  • Monitors wildlife behavior and abundance posed by various species of wildlife on
    airports and surrounding properties
  • Collects, summarizes, analyzes, and presents ecological data on wildlife hazards to
    airport staff and appropriate regulatory agencies
  • May conduct wildlife damage management activities
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations for
    airports; assists airports with compliance of these regulations
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with other agencies, organizations, institutions, industry groups, and individuals in meeting wildlife program needs and goals
  • Complies with local, state, and federal laws in wildlife damage management activities (if applicable)
  • Conducts wildlife management training for aviation personnel (civilian and military); comfortable with public speaking
  • Conduct species-specific surveys for protected wildlife and plants and nesting birds
  • Taking photographs and detailed field notes
  • Consistent communication with project managers and other field staff, as needed
  • Operating company vehicles



A degree in biological science that includes such wildlife subjects as mammalogy, ornithology, animal ecology, wildlife management, zoology, and/or research courses in the field of wildlife biology


  • One year of specialized experienced working with wildlife and aviation
  • Comfortable with using computers for word processing and spreadsheets 

Preferred Requirements:

In addition to meeting the basic requirement, the preferred candidate will:

  • Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience working with wildlife and aviation
  • Accurately identify North American birds and assess their abundance, behavior, and habitats
  • Have knowledge of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, Endangered Species Act,
    National Environmental Policy Act, and Federal Aviation Administration
    regulations and have experience interpreting/applying those policies,
    regulations, and laws
  • Have skilled use of firearms
  • Have experience using GPS and GIS technologies 

Other Requirements:

  • Candidate must be willing to travel; this position requires 50-60% travel (mostly domestic, but possibly international)
  • Must obtain or have a valid U.S. driver’s license
  • Must be able to pass a government background check
  • The work may require moderately strenuous physical exertion in adverse weather conditions, noisy environments, and/or extensive vehicle travel
  • Occasionally, the work will require a flexible schedule, working odd hours – early mornings and late evenings – or occasional weekend travel days
