JOB SUMMARY: 

 Supervisory position responsible for achieving the organization's print and digital advertising agency revenue goals and objectives at a local level as developed by the company. This position is also responsible for handling local major account sales and contract negations with local major and national major accounts. Works in a team environment to plan, develop, implement and supervise advertising sales programs, activities, and planning and executing events. The Sales Supervisor will be the liaison between the sales team and the Regional Agency Director and the Advertising Director. Develops sales plans to increase revenue while meeting advertising goals/objectives as well as leading your team to achieve their territory goals by performing the following the essential job functions:

  

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Develop and execute sales strategies and tactics in accordance with the Advertising Director, both short and long range, to ensure profit growth, market share growth and expansion of all company products and/or services while increasing revenue and achieving the organization’s goals and objectives.

     

  • Achieves monthly online sales objectives through aggressive sales calls and programs; and share of market performance in relation to set standards and specific trends within the industry and economy. Tracks and monitors online advertising sales monthly, quarterly and annually. Prepares sales reports and provides to Advertising Director. Assists with pricing strategies for new online products and multi-media sales programs.

     

  • Responsible for planning and executing off-site events.

     

  • Enforces departmental procedures to ensure effective control of advertising sales activities and standard processes are followed through on; takes corrective action as necessary.  Maintains GREAT standards and holds sales team accountable.

     

  • Responsible to coordinate digital agency sales efforts and will be the local liaison between the property and the regional digital agency director.

     

  • Communicates and builds online partnerships with new revenue opportunities. Maintains a keen understanding of online solutions for advertisers and recommends new functionality to meet marketing needs of customers.

     

  • Effectively supervises and assists sales staff including negotiating contract terms and conditions with advertisers, agencies, and solicitation of potential accounts including follow-up and customer satisfaction. Communicates with outside agencies, addresses concerns, handles complaints and resolves discrepancies to ensure client/customer satisfaction.

     

  • Responsible for developing and maintaining discretion and confidentiality relating to account detail, pricing structures, contract rates, credit and related issues, projected budget information, future organizational plans, and personnel records and matters.

     

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with specific advertising procedures, company policies, and applicable laws and regulations.  Acts as a liaison between their team of Advertising Account Executives and management.

 

  • Will be held accountable for their team of Advertising Account Executives adhering to the Standards of Performance.  

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:  

    Bachelor's degree in sales and marketing or comparable business; and a minimum of two years related sales/digital experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Expert knowledge of the newspaper demographic market and understanding of the industry and growth potential is essential. Excellent leadership skills to effectively supervise and motivate the advertising sales team required. Forecasting and budget expenditure experience recommended. Familiarity working with Microsoft Word and Excel is required. Knowledge of general office procedures and accounting principles in determining budgetary expenditures also required.
