PART-TIME OBITUARY CONSULTANT
The Roanoke Times, a BH Media company, is seeking part-time Obituary Consultant to join its Advertising Department. This position will develop business relationships with funeral homes and their clients, recommending and selling print and digital solutions to meet our customers’ needs. Taking inbound calls will be essential in this position. Obituary notices will be scheduled and followed through design/production and final proofing to the customer. Obituary notices and quotes may be requested by phone or email. Obituary Consultants must prioritize to meet scheduling deadlines and customer needs. Successful candidates are accurate, helpful, have excellent verbal and written communication, including good grammar and spelling, and follow processes determined by management.
Prioritize and schedule obituary notices in multiple print and digital platforms accurately and efficiently by entering appropriate billing and copy information while following writing-style standards.
Provide outstanding customer service to incoming calls and emails by advising customers of our standards and consulting with customers in directing them to the best options available to meet their needs, time frame and budgets. Give a timely response to all inquiries.
Initiate and provide guidance for improvements in process and work flow. Paginate and proof the obituary pages.
Back up team members as needed by management. Perform other duties as required by management team to help with productivity, sales, and customer service.

Typing – 25 wpm minimum
College degree is preferred
1pm-5pm on Saturdays and Sundays or later if necessary and all holidays.
