CILA - Senior Staff Attorney
Accountable for providing individual technical assistance, training, and relevant resources to legal services staff and pro bono attorneys representing children in their immigration case in Texas.
Principal Duties/Job Responsibilities
Provides individual technical assistance to legal services staff and pro bono attorneys as required by current funding contract(s).
Provides training to legal services staff and pro bono attorneys on relevant issue areas.
Participates in working group meetings and calls for legal services staff and pro bono attorneys on specific topics related to children's immigration cases.
Creates resources relevant to children's immigration practice for use by legal services staff and pro bono attorneys.
Assists in timely communications to legal services staff and pro bono attorneys, including posts to the CILA website.
Assists in efforts to engage the pro bono community.
Performs other related duties as required.
Basic Qualifications & Interests (BQIs)
Possession of a Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
Licensed to practice law in a U.S. state or territory.
Preferred Qualifications & Interests (PQIs)
Licensed to practice law and member in good standing of State Bar of Texas.
Prior volunteer, community, or work experience regarding immigration or detention.
Prior work experience with children, particularly from Central America.
Prior non-profit experience.
