Perform duties to run a deflection machine that distorts threads in order to create a locking nut. Operator is also responsible for assembling nuts, washers and nylon inserts.


Responsibilities

  • Responsible for operation of one to ten machines as assigned
  • Participate and exercise influence in regards to strategic direction of the business
  • Keep machine tracks and feed bowls clear and unjammed using basic hand tools
  • Create and implement annual expense, productivity, and capital budgets
  • Perform testing of torque ranges depending on which machines are running
  • Adjust torque settings on machines when required, check torque on parts being produced, and document on all process sheets
  • Perform dimensional specification tests as specified by control plan
  • Monitor quality of incoming and current running parts and coordinate with quality personnel regarding incoming part problems
  • Create production tickets including description, job, lot number, part number, and place on tub of finished deflected parts and order new product from material handling to replace finished parts
  • Log shop orders in JD Edwards
  • Report machine problems to department manager, leader or setter; may also explain problem to maintenance personnel
  • Maintain general good housekeeping of work area and ensure machines are clean and maintained
  • Follow all Safety, Environmental, and Quality policies and guidelines
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Forecast and monitor expenditure for short term planning and approve spending as appropriate  

Qualifications

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to adapt and embrace change in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to work from written and verbal instructions, blueprints, and shop orders
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Must have a strong mechanical aptitude and be able to use thread gage and basic hand tools
  • Must be a self-starter with good organizational skills and a high level of reliability
  • Must be a self-motivated team player
