Tool & Die Apprentice - Tool & Die, shift TBD


SUMMARY

 

The objective of this role is to help make MacLean Power Systems foundry operations run efficiently. This individual should have the ability to work as a team, make decisions about the parts they are handling, and work closely with their supervisor to ensure the proper handling of parts. Being a friendly, self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal skills is necessary for this role. 
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES   
 

Study specifications, including damaged parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of piece to be machined, sequence of operations, and requirements for tools, materials, and machines
  • Measure and lay out stock for machining
  • Set up and operate all types of metal-removing machine shop machines
  • Verify conformity of work piece or machine to specifications, dimensions and alignment using measuring instruments
  • Observe, operate, and test mechanism or machine for diagnosis or repair status
  • Develop specifications from general descriptions, draw or sketch product to be made as necessary
  • Adhere to company Quality Policy and follow appropriate procedures as documented in the training agreement
  • Perform other duties as assigned

      CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • High school education or equivalent experience plus 1-3 years of applied training
  • Must be able to work from verbal and written instructions, blueprints, sketches, verbal and written instructions, parts descriptions and manuals Ability to communicate effectively
  • Use micrometers, calipers, basic hand tools, measuring indicators and gauges, power tools, all types of machine shop equipment
  • Must be a self-starter with good organizational skills and a high level of reliability
  • Must have good interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be a self-motivated team player
